There are two kinds of assessment formative which goes on through the lesson and then there is summative assessment occurs at the end of the instruction.
A rubric can assist in Quantative self-evaluation based on the targeted achievement goals. I found this great website called Rubistar.org. Rubistar allows you to create a rubric. This site sets up the template for you and gives you instructions onhow to create a rubric. I even created a rubric on this site.
